Friday Afternoon Roundup - Coverage Mandate is Freedom

Statements Loewen has made to FBI Employee 1 reflect his desire to engage in violent jihadl on behalf of al Qaeda.

“As time goes on I care less and less about what other people think of me, or my views of lslam. I have been studying subjects like jihad, martyrdom operations, and Sharia law. I don’t understand how you can read the Qur’an and the sunnah3 of the Prophet (saw)a and not understand that jihad and the implementation of Sharia is absolutely demanded of all the Muslim Ummah.”

I do agree on one thing; the one thing we are doing wrong is that all 1.5 billion of us don’t rise up against the rest of the world and tell THEM how it’s going to be. lnshallah,T it will happen soon."

Loewen left a letter dated December 71,7013 for a family member describing his intent to conduct a martyrdom operation. It reads in part:

"By the time you read this I will – if everything went as planned- have been martyred in the path of Allah. There will have been an event at the airport which I am responsible for. The operation was timed to cause maximum carnage + death."

What the report is clumsily getting at is the idea that Islam is legitimate in private practice, but not in public imposition. It’s Islam when a Muslim goes to a mosque or avoids alcohol, but Islamism when he harasses barflies or chops off heads under the dictates of Islamic law. Unfortunately this distinction has no meaning in Islam which was never rewired to function as a private religion in a secular state.

The Extremism report talks around these basic facts.  The solution of all the extremism projects is to combat Islamic theocracy by having governments distinguish “good Islam” from “bad Islam”. It’s a silly and awkward solution because it creates a government religion in the name of combating a government religion.

In totalitarian movements, the difference between the moderates and extremists lies only in the paths that they take to the same final goal. The radicals want action now. The moderates are willing to wait until the demographics are firmly on their side. The radicals want to blow up buses. The moderates want to expand immigration numbers. And both totalitarian paths ultimately lead to Londonistan.

South Africa is for all intents and purposes a one-party state. And it was Mandela who blasted opposition Democratic Party voters as white racists who “would one day die with a heavy conscience.”

As a Communist, Mandela had always envisioned a one-party state.

“Under a Communist Party Government South Africa will become a land of milk and honey. Political, economic and social rights will cease to be enjoyed by Whites only. They will be shared equally by Whites and Non-Whites. There will be enough land and houses for all. There will be no unemployment, starvation and disease,” Mandela wrote.

Today South Africa has a 26 percent unemployment rate and a 17 percent HIV rate. Among the 18-34 age group, 56 percent of whites, 53 percent of Indians and 43 percent of those of mixed race want to leave the country. Among blacks the number is only at 33 percent which still means that a third would like to leave.

The Mandela Myth

* I appeared on Chuck Wilder's radio show on CRN to discuss this article. You can listen to it here.

This is the 20-year-old Israeli soldier that Mohammad G. Hammad fantasizes about beheading.

Even though university presidents now routinely condemn Halloween costumes when Muslims find them offensive, Dr. Leslie Wong, the president of San Francisco State University, without referencing the specifics of the case in any way, urged everyone to “stay firmly committed to free speech.  Strong opinions—and strong disagreements—are essential to the life of our democracy, and the life of our university.”

Pro-Israel students and College Republicans at San Francisco State were investigated for stepping on Hamas and Hezbollah flags.  The students were accused of “attempts to incite violence and create a hostile environment” because Allah was written on the terrorist flags.

Judge Robert Spencer ordered Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver, to accommodate sex-couples or face fines and other possible penalties.

“The complainants can sue him civilly in the regular courts system or he can potentially be prosecuted by the district attorney for up to twelve months in jail.”

“At first blush, it may seem reasonable that a private business should be able to refuse service to anyone it chooses,” Spencer wrote in his 13-page ruling. “This view, however, fails to take into account the cost to society and the hurt caused to persons who are denied service simply because of who they are.”

But Masterpiece Cakeshop’s horrifying wave of discrimination doesn’t end there.

Martin added that Phillips is a devoted Christian who has an unwavering faith. She said he is a person of such deep faith that he won’t even bake Halloween-themed treats – at all.

Sure, at first blush you might think that a baker should be allowed to refuse to bake Halloween-themed treats. But think of the hurt feelings of the witches and warlocks who come in wanting them… and the cost to society.

If Philips can be forced to bake a gay wedding cake… why not a cake with a pentagram on it? Why not a cake that says Allah Akbar or God is Dead?

The New York Times spent a lot of time bringing attention to its story about Dasani, a young girl who is “homeless” in that she lives with her parents and family in a homeless shelter.

The article spends a great deal of time describing every aspect of her day, but almost no time talking about her drug addict parents. It does spend a great deal of time blaming Bloomberg and gentrification.

Dasani’s parents are criminals and drug addicts. But it’s Bloomberg’s fault that she lives in a homeless shelter.

Jess - Well said...this author (or useless writer) is low class and shouldnt even be allowed to practice freedom of speech. Hes probably living out in Malibu somewhere!! I bet your like many other people in this country who sit around entitled doing nothing to help anyone other than yourself and who whine and complain about how horrible your life is when you have a place to lay your head and food in your fridge.. If you are not a part of the solution you are a part of the problem..wake up!!

This is what an Obama voter's brain looks like.

Mr. Shadow - And now we see the real Conservative, misinformed over opinionated blame throwers. Its funny that you think people stuck in poor health/social conditions would just magically make themselves better with no help. That's the conservative way of thinking, let the fire die out on its own, after it has burned everything to ash.

Daniel Greenfield - "Magically?"

How about

1. Stop getting high

2. Stop blowing your money

3. Take care of your family

It's magic!

To liberals, personal responsibility is just another form of magic. It's as unrealistic as growing wings.

I’ve said before that the Free Syrian Army is largely a myth. It was initially sold as a secular force of ex-soldiers. It turned out to be a collection of Islamist militias loosely aligned with the FSA in exchange for the expectation of American aid.

If we had backed the FSA, it would have been another useless militarily inept millstone like Abbas’ Fatah forces in the Palestinian Authority or the Afghan military. It would have done very little fighting, but would have spent most of its time reselling American aid.

Now what’s left of the Free Syrian Army has collapsed. Its fake commander has scampered back to his real masters in Turkey and Qatar

Speaking at the International Women’s Forum, Mandela said “if there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America.”

Mandela said U.S. President George W. Bush covets the oil in Iraq “because Iraq produces 64 percent of the oil in the world. What Bush wants is to get hold of that oil.” In fact Iraq contributes to only 5 percent of world oil exports.

Mandela, a frequent critic of US policy on Iraq, also said that countries were only challenging the mandate of the United Nations now because Secretary-General Kofi Annan is black.

A threat to world peace “I have also said when the secretary-generals were white, we never had the question of any country ignoring the United Nations,” he said.

Roger Waters was accused of hating Jews. So he decided to give an interview to a left-wing outlet that accused Jews of drinking blood to disprove these allegations… by claiming that the Jewish Lobby controls America and that Jews are the new Nazis.

"So for an artist to go and play in a country that occupies other people’s land and oppresses them the way Israel does, is plain wrong. They should say no. I would not have played for the Vichy government in occupied France in the Second World War, I would not have played in Berlin either during this time."

Roger Waters will not play in WW2 Berlin or Israel. He will however play in the People’s Republic of China, Turkey and Russia. Because it’s not like they’re occupying anything.

Obama and his Republican co-conspirators could have rammed through illegal alien amnesty while Republicans were still scratching their heads over the whole “the immigration system is broken”, “border security” and “demographic inevitability” sloganeering.

Instead though, Obama was arrogant enough to think that he could establish total liberal dominance by breaking the NRA. If Obama had been a little less arrogant, he would have picked the low-hanging fruit of amnesty, and made it nearly impossible for the GOP to win elections in a decade.

The Swarthmore College Hillel has declared that it’s an “Open Hillel” and will no longer be bound by any such outdated Hillelian notions as not supporting terrorists who call for genocide.

But Swarthmore College’s post-Hillel Open Hillel claims that the original Hillel, the Jewish sage the org is named after, would be totally down with pluralistically killing Jews,

“If I am not for myself, who will be for me?  But if I am only for myself, what am I?  If not now, when?” Hillel famously said. It’s easy to go all social justice and concentrate on the second and third sentences, but the overriding message is that if you are not for your own existence, then you aren’t going to be able to help anyone either.

The Palestinian Arabs claiming to be Canaanites is like Elizabeth Warren claiming to be Native American. It’s worse, because the Arab conquests took place at a much later date.

We’re talking about a bunch of invaders who started flocking to the area in Roman and Post-Roman times, a process that accelerated with the Mohammedan conquests, claiming to be an ancient people who were long extinct by the time they got there.

So it’s actually more like a Muslim immigrant to South America claiming to be an Aztec.

But like the New York Times, I am also deeply concerned about the lack of places for graffiti vandals to vandalize. Can I recommend that they explore using the New York Times Building at 620 8th Ave as their canvas?

It’s okay for the New York Times to offer up buildings in minority and working class neighborhoods to be vandalized. So why not help the endangered graffiti artist by letting them mess up their building. Considering how ugly the Times’ generic skyscraper is, it could use a few gang tags.

Imagine the consequences if the British Crown had implemented a plan to require background checks and mental health tests administered by Crown-appointed doctors in the colonies. Doubtless every American colonial who applied for the right to own a muzzle-loading musket and a pouch of power and ball would have been denied and sent on his way, possibly to jail if the doctors deemed their loyalty to the King suspect and "unreliable." There would have been no American Revolution.

That policy would have been complemented with the Crown's own "Fast & Furious" campaign to demonize gun ownership by secretly selling guns to frontier Indians so they could better raid defenseless settlers and "prove" that guns were "dangerous."

The only purpose of gun controls in the U.S. is to prevent Americans from defending themselves against common criminals – and to rely on a lethargic government entity for protection – and uncommon ones in the guise of enforcers of "public safety."

Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit's post has been widely spread. He also appeared on CNBC to discuss his case.

Dr. Lee was the surgeon assigned to perform open heart surgery. What was originally scheduled to last four hours ended up lasting twelve. My heart was severely damaged. Dr. Lee later told me the surgery was one of the most difficult of his career. He also said I only had a few days to live without the surgery.

Thanks to the excellent insurance I carried I was able to receive life-saving medical treatment at St. Louis University.

This week I found out I am going to lose my insurance. The company that carried me is leaving the Missouri market. I will have to find something else.

I am one of the millions who will be looking for new insurance. God willing, I will be able to keep my doctors at St. Louis University. I trust them.  They saved my life.  Please pray for me and the millions of working Americans who are going through this same ordeal.

Why is our government doing this to us?

The short answer is that it's not our government. It's the government that controls our country. The two are not the same.

The ridiculous left-wing clown show that is the University of Haifa continues unabated, as Steven Plaut reports.

Haaretz reports that the University of Haifa has decided not to grant an honorary doctoral degree to Nobel Prize winning economist Robert Aumann because the University disapproves of Aumann's political opinions.  He is decidedly non-Left.

A few months ago the same University of Haifa had no problem granting an honorary PhD degree to Shulamit Aloni, and has granted similar degrees to other far leftists.

Each year the institution decides to bestow the title in three categories: scientific achievements, entrepreneurship and philanthropy and public activities.

Last year it awarded Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Professor Dan Shechtman, a businessman Benny Landa and Supreme Court Justice Salim Jubran. Also it awarded singer Shlomo Artzi, "for his many contributions to the design of the Israeli experience and being one of the cornerstones of Israeli culture."

While at the university said that Aumann is not only disqualified, but his political views had been discussed at the meeting.

Why grant an honorary degree to a Nobel prize winner when you can hand them out to the members of the left-wing gang that is still trying to run the country into the ground even though they can't get elected anymore.

" . . . the University of Haifa has decided not to grant an honorary doctoral degree to Nobel Prize winning economist Robert Aumann . . . "

Similar to the Nobel Peace Prize, an honorary doctorate from {a growing list of universities} conveys a different meaning than the one it is assumed to convey by the bestowers.

Or, maybe not. I suppose it could be conveying exactly those claims and circumstances that the bestowers intended, and the disconnect arises only because those things they claim as achievements I view as embarrassing admissions.

So, does this mean we are already irretrievably taken over and just don't know it yet? Is that why all our efforts to subpoena records, to demand accountability, and to impeach are going nowhere? A nightmare scenario, and I hope with everything in me that you're wrong. In 11 months we'll know for sure.

Marylou, taken over is relative. But it's not our government in the sense that it's not representative. Much of it is embedded in a bureaucracy and the elected part owes its allegiance to a foreign ideology and some of its wealthy domestic backers in that order.
