Allahu Akbar and Ho Ho Ho

"A flag bearing a crescent and star flies from a flagpole in front of the World Trade Center, next to a Christmas tree and a menorah."

New York Times, 1997

In 1997, Mohammed T. Mehdi, the head of the Arab-American Committee and the National Council on Islamic Affairs, lobbied to have a crescent and star put up at the World Trade Center during the holiday season. His wish was granted, despite the fact that he had been an adviser to Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman also known as the Blind Sheikh.

In the name of diversity and political correctness, an adviser to the religious leader behind the World Trade Center bombing, was allowed to plant an Islamic symbol of conquest in the very place that had been bombed.

Long before the Ground Zero Mosque was even a twinkle in the eye of a violent ex-waiter and a slumlord Imam, the World Trade Center allowed Mohammed T. Mehdi to bully it into flying the symbol of Islam.

By 1997, Mohammed T. Mehdi had become an unambiguously ugly public figure. He had been fired by Mayor Dinkins in 1992 for anti-Semitic remarks. The year before he had proclaimed that, "Millions of Arabs believe Saddam stands tall having defied Western colonialism".

In 1995, the US Attorney's Office in New York had listed Mehdi as an unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of Sheikh Rahman. Mehdi had already published a book titled "Kennedy and Sirhan: Why?", which contended that Robert Kennedy's assassin had been acting in self-defense.

Because of Mehdi's role in actively working on behalf of the Sheikh behind the wave of terrorism that included the original attack on the World Trade Center, turning down his request should have been a no-brainer. Instead in the winter of 1997 there was an Islamic star and crescent at the World Trade Center. And another one at the park in front of the White House.

Four years before the September 11 attacks; both targets had already been marked.

The previous year had marked the first annual Ramadan dinner at the State Department, integrating the Islamic celebration into the Clinton Administration's schedule of events. Bill Clinton had not visited the World Trade Center after the bombing, but he did make time for Ramadan.

A month after 9/11, Bush went Clinton one better when he became the first president to host a Ramadan dinner at the White House. Many of the Muslim ambassadors at the event were representing countries that helped finance Al Qaeda. Little more than a month after September 11, the President of the United States sat down to break bread with the money men behind the attacks.

The Star and Crescent flying at the World Trade Center did not prevent it from being targeted in a second greater attack four years later. Nor did the Ramadan dinners keep the plane headed for the White House at bay. It took the self-sacrifice of its American passengers to do that. Instead every gesture of appeasement only seemed to make it worse.

Before the star and crescent flew at the World Trade Center, the site suffered only a few dead. After it, thousands dead. The more Ramadan dinners Bush hosted, the more Americans died, because the Star and Crescent and the Ramadan dinners both expressed a deliberate blindness to the threat of Islamic terrorism.

No one who understood what had happened at the World Trade Center in 1993, would have permitted a banner associated with its attackers to be flown there. But while the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, let Mehdi have his way with the World Trade Center, other Muslims were working to carry out Sheikh Abdel-Rahman's agenda for a war on America and the free world.

"Cut the transportation of their countries," the blind Sheik had commanded, "tear it apart, destroy their economy, burn their companies, eliminate their interests, sink their ships, shoot down their planes, kill them on the sea, air, or land."

While the Star and Crescent was blowing in the cold December wind coming off the Hudson River, an even colder wind was blowing out of Hamburg, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. A year earlier Khalid Sheikh Mohammed had come up with the idea and presented it to Osama bin Laden. A year later the operation began to move forward.

While Secretary of State Albright was holding her Ramadan dinners, other Ramadan dinners were being held out of sight at which more substantive events were being discussed.

While the US was busy bombing Yugoslavian civilians in order to create a separatist Muslim state for KLA terrorists; Osama bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed were recruiting the first of the 9/11 hijackers. While the United States tried to appease Muslims, Muslims plotted to murder Americans.

In 1997, the New York Daily News wrote an upbeat story about Mehdi's Star and Crescent, which envisioned Islam blending merrily into the holiday season.

New York may seem a little brighter this holiday season as the glowing Muslim crescent and star symbol nudges its way onto a seasonal landscape of Christmas trees, menorahs and Kwanzaa candles.

Watch out, ho, ho, ho-ing Santas you might get drowned out by cheery folks yelling, "Allahu akbar!"

Four years later, cheery folks yelling "Allahu Akbar" had filled downtown Manhattan with ashen snow and brightened it with the flames of the burning towers of the World Trade Center.
The 9/11 hijackers left behind notes which said among other things, "Shout, 'Allahu Akbar,' because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers".

If there were any Santas on those planes, they were certainly drowned out by the cries of "Allah Akbar". And if that didn't drown them out, having their throats being slit by the cheery folks with box cutters surely did.

On the Christmas of 2001, New York City was a city with an open wound. Muslims had finally made their impact on the holiday season in a truly unforgettable way. At Ground Zero, workers were still searching through the remains, looking for bodies or parts of them.

"It would be like a gift for somebody," a police officer said, who was spending his holiday searching through the debris. A gift for the infidels from Islam.

While Muslims were stuffing their faces in November of 2001, Americans were mourning their dead. While Abdul, Mohammed and Raisa were picking through their lamb stew, Americans were picking up the pieces of their loved ones. But it was they who were told to be sensitive to Muslim concerns.
From Pakistan, Musharraf urged the US to suspend bombing his Taliban allies during Ramadan. In the name of sensitivity. New York City schools were making arrangements for Muslim prayers out of "heightened sensitivity to Muslim concerns after the Sept. 11 attack". Instead of Americans being on the receiving end of "heightened sensitivity", the ideology that had conspired to murder them was.

On the 9th anniversary of 9/11, Islam had another gift for New Yorkers. Having bought up a building damaged in their own attack, they plotted to set up a grand mosque near Ground Zero. Another gift to New Yorkers from the religion that kept on giving. Another Crescent and Star.

The same people who did not learn the lesson in 1997, and allowed the Crescent and Star to fly at the World Trade Center, were eager to let the Ground Zero Mosque go forward in the name of tolerance. But despite the Crescent and Star, appeasement proved to be no defense.

3,000 died on 9/11 because American leaders preferred to appease, rather than confront. And we are still busy appeasing, like never before.

Allah Akbar and Ho, Ho, Ho.

This country of sheep and appeasers deserves what it gets. A reset of our nation is inevitable. I'm not sure which way it will go but I cease to believe that Americans care anything about their own self governance as long as Samsung makes 60 inch televisions.

You americans don't even have half of the problems we have in Europe concerning Islam. You should see this video about Sweden to know our problems!

I don't understand why some people still keep talking about the KLA and the "Muslim state of Kosovo" as if its 1998 or something. Albanian Kosovars are about the most pro-American people on earth. And the most pro-Israeli people on earth. And those "innocent Yugoslav civilians" weren't just engaged in genocide against Albanians, or Muslim Bosnians, but also against Catholic Croatians. Not sure I buy the "Christian vs Muslim" argument, when the Serbs were killing plenty of Christians too. Sorry. I'm not going to be convinced to support genocide and ethnic cleansing, because the people being killed happened to be of the non-preferred religion, even though they are far more tolerant, far more pro-Western and overall far less "religious" than the people perpetrating the murders. If there was ever a "just war", and one that paid off, it was that war. Pro-Russian barbarian murders of just about...everyone...who wasn't like them, are hardly worthy of reflection in 2013.

In reply to Anonymous: Albanian Muslim Kosovars (because there are many Catholic Kosavars also), may be "some of the most pro-American people on Earth", but remember that the pizza guys who wanted to kill soldiers at Fort Dix, those guys are these same "pro-American" Muslim Kosovars. And so is Sami Osmakac, the guy who wanted to blow up a school in Tampa (his videos are on Youtube, very intelligent and articulate guy). And don't forget Hysen Sherifi who wanted to help blow up a Marine base in Quantico, VA. His brother Shkoom-bin and his girlfriend conspired to murder the witnesses against him, getting locked up also. I can't think of any more, or any Catholic Kosovars that have tried to commit any terrorist acts. That said, I don't know of any Serbs that tried to blow up any military bases or schools in the U.S. either. There is Adis Medunjanin, who wanted to blow up the NYC subways, but alas, he is a Bosnian Muslim. The vast majority of Kosovars may be beautiful law abiding pro-Americans. But that small minority of lunatics? And why isn't there a corresponding small minority of lunatic Serbians? Maybe a cultural thing? Let's not forget that in the 1500's, when Vlad Tepes (aka Count Dracula) was being menaced by the the Muslim armies of the Ottoman Empire (who indiscriminately killed men, women and little kids, cutting off their heads and making monuments several stories high with their heads, or in the alternative taking them back to Constantinople as slaves), he took thousands of their captured soldiers, cut their heads off and hung them on spikes. It is said that the invading Muslim army, upon seeing the heads of thousands of their comrades on spikes, turned and fled (hence the legend of Dracula). In Romania, Dracula is a national hero, because he repaid the Muslims with the same brutality they showed his people. Could the Serbs be repaying those others with the same brutality once shown them? Just something to ponder.....

If "The Looming Tower" can't scare us straight after 9/11, nothing will. The infiltration of Islam is widespread here in the US, it's going to take a herculean effort, maybe a miracle to defeat this evil of Islam/radical Islam.

We are falling asleep. A leader needs to emerge, maybe........ Pope Francis can channel St. Pope Pius V and form another coalition like the Holy League and put the hammer down. Something.

Oh God do we need good men now. Keep doing what you're doing Daniel........you are one of the good men.

In reply to Anonymous who points out the cases of extremist Kosovars: yes of course there are extremists who are deluded into "jihad" in almost all Muslim countries. I'm not making the case that there isn't a violent thread in Islam. However, you will note that every single one of those 3 cases you gave...the people in question were raised (and some were born) in the US. They were radicalized in US mosques, by people living in the US. These people are hardly representative of Kosovar Albanians. None of those examples have anything to do with the war in 1999, as none of those events were tied to the war in any way. You ask where are the Serb radicals? Well, ask the Croatian Catholics who were murdered by them. Serb radicals may not be aiming their guns at the US (at the moment), but they were aiming their guns at pretty much everyone else, Muslim or Christian alike in the region. In any event, this cannot be tied to the US actions in Kosovo in 1999. The Serbs were committing genocide against 2 million Albanians, after they had tried to committed genocide against the Bosnian and the Croats. And as you point out, against Catholic Kosovar Albanians as well (the largest religious building in Kosovo today is the Mother Teresa Cathedral, serving catholic Albanians). And most Albanian muslims in Kosovo (and Albanian proper itself) are about the most "moderate" Muslims you will find. If anyone says that there are "no moderate Muslims", Albanians prove them wrong, and yes, it is because religion for most people there is just a badge worn on the sleeve, not an actual religion (which is the case with almost everyone in the Balkans). Keep in mind that many of the people in the KLA, prior to 1999, had been fighting in Croatia on the side of the Croats.

Talking about ancient history of the region, which most Americans simply cannot and will not understand, is the wrong road to go down. Serb propaganda has convinced "some" in the US that somehow this is a continuation of the war against the Ottomans. Believing this ludicrous argument is to believe all the other ludicrous arguments that come out of the Balkans and which are used to justify genocide against everyone (remember the Serbs used the same argument in their genocidal war against the Croats, whom they called remnants of the Austro-Hungarian invasion of "their country"). Point being, this was not a religious conflict. This was an ethnic conflict. Serb radicals are no more "Christian" than Kony in Sudan. Christians in America don't understand what "religion" means in the Balkans. It has precious little to do with "Christ", and plenty to do with ethnic identity. That being said, its 2013. We have seen how the Kosovo experiment has plaid out for the US: an unmitigated success. There is no "Muslim state" in Kosovo. It is extremely liberal, democratic, hugely pro-US and pro-Israel. No point in talking about the US intervention in 1999, or the outcome of the war, as if we don't know the eventual outcome. We know that the outcome was a success. In 1998 or 99 that sort of skepticism may have been forgivable. But not now. Blindly "supporting" anyone who happens to "call" themselves a "Christian" is hardly the way to go about it. (full disclosure: I was born into the Albanian Orthodox Church, which is why I know that "christian" in the Balkans means nothing more than a word. It has no meaning over there, as does any other form of nominal religious affiliation)

I recall M.T. Mehdi from the 1960's and 70's in New York City. He was a flannel mouthed rabble rouser.

Question: Except for self defense, what interest does the U.S. have in these ethnic, religious, and internecine Islamic conflicts? After years of watching the evidence, I believe we make enemies when we take sides, for whatever reason.

Are we surprised by New York's appeasement of Islamists in America? This is the home of the UN and the New York Times! I would not be surprised to see mock separation walls erected on ground zero just as the Anglican Church is doing at this time in central Londonistan. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke7QVF0paqc It seems that we are in the final phases of the union of Christian anti-Semitism and Islamic anti-Semitism and the dhimmitude of the Christians is almost complete - evident in the number of Boycott, Divestment and Sanction campaigns going unchallenged (and that dhimmitude includes a mention of mainstream Jewish groups for their silence and compliance with the Israel destruction crew at the White House). Obama, the Saudi candidate and Alinsky strategist, has put the final touches on the handiwork of Carter, the two Bushes and the two Clintons. The anger among Islamists is subsiding (making Obama look like the miracle worker) because the final stages of the Islamic conquest has the insiders working for them - physical terrorism is being replaced by institutional, governmental and political conquest. All the rights and freedoms we once knew will be replaced, ever so stealthily, through a sharia-compliant progression. Obama, who makes deals with his Islamist friends uses Israel-denigration to put a big smile on the faces of the Taliban, allowing Obama to make his retreat from Afghanistan appear orderly. First Israel will pay the price, but America is also paying the price as Obama works to make America weak. Obama's Islamic cohorts have not all been cooperative. Egypt came to its senses, realizing that Obama wanted the Muslim Brotherhood terror operation to take command. Obama failed to have the terrorists gain control over the dictator Assad in Syria - then he decided to join 'em rather than beat 'em by giving Iran all it wanted to finish its nuclear weapons program. This did not make his Saudi backers and mentors happy and so the final unintended consequence might be a surprise from the Saudis. What size and shape that takes is anyone's guess.
