The Future Will Not Belong to Rodeo Clowns Who Slander Obama

PEACE IN OUR TIME

The ex-terrorist and Harvard faculty member suggested that the United States negotiate with Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri. And if negotiating with the leader of Al Qaeda in order to isolate and defeat Al Qaeda isn’t nuance, what is? What is the sound of one hand clapping? If a tree falls in a forest does it make a sound? If we appease Al Qaeda to defeat Al Qaeda, do our nuanced one-handed handshakes with our new pal Ayman make a squishing noise?

Back in 1998, Ayman Al-Zawahiri had proclaimed in a fatwa with Bin Laden, “We, with Allah’s help, call on every Muslim who believes in Allah and wishes to be rewarded to comply with Allah’s order to kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they find it.”

It would take a river of denial the size of the one in Al-Zawahiri’s Egyptian homeland to find any nuance in that

RIDICULOUS HEADLINE ILLUSTRATES ABSURDITY OF AMAZON CEO'S VANITY PAPER

That’s not an Onion headline. That’s a Washington Amazon Post headline. It doesn’t even appear to be an op-ed. The liberal media cannot be parodied, because it overshoots all parody with unintentional self-parody.

A liberalism that plans sex ed for elementary schoolers thinks a clown in an Obama mask is somehow inappropriate for children. Maybe if he gay-married the bull, they could have gotten behind it.

The Wednesday crowd at the fair, which lasts 11 days in remote Sedalia, was overwhelmingly white,” Philip Rucker writes, scrambling for racism material.

Missouri is 84 percent white. Sedalia is 5 percent African-American. How could the crowd not be “overwhelmingly white”?

This isn’t a racial divide. It’s a power divide. It’s about who has it and who doesn’t. The rodeo clowns don’t. Obama, Philip Rucker, Yael T Abouhalkah, the Kansas City Star and the Washington Post do.

END IT

Like all terrorist organizations, the Muslim Brotherhood has only one commodity to trade in. Blood. In the war of ideas for the future of Egypt, the Brotherhood had nothing to offer but the blood of its followers and victims.

PINING FOR THE BROTHERHOOD

The terrorism-or-democracy fallacy treats Islamists as “bad” if they blow up buildings in order to build a theocracy, but “good” if they compete in elections to build a theocracy. It prioritizes process over outcome and its logic suggests that we should have no objections to Hitler and Stalin if they had come to power as part of a pure democratic process. Or worse still, bet that democracy would moderate them.

The lazy assumption that when the Muslim Brotherhood switched from the bomb to the ballot box, it did more than switch means, it also switched ends, doesn’t hold up. Not when examining the tactics of Islamists in power from Turkey to Tunisia to Egypt. Islamists are as violent in power as they are out of power. It isn’t disenfranchisement that radicalizes them. It’s their belief in Islamic rule that does.

McCain and Graham, like most Western leaders, are unable to take the Islamist dreams of a revived Caliphate seriously. That is their undoing and ours. To them, the Brotherhood will become another political party and its Islamist agenda will mean little except a ban on liquor or a lower marriage age for little girls. They refuse to understand their enemies by contemplating the world of the present through the dirty glass of the Islamic lens.

BOB FILNER, DEFENDER OF WOMEN

"Women’s right to choose and access to safe birth control are under attack. For twenty years, Bob Filner has defended women… our right to choice, our right to healthcare, our right to equal pay."

Insanely enough, their Planned Parenthood branch still hosts Filner’s essay, “Why I am pro-choice.”

Surprisingly enough, Filner was an opponent of abstinence education and a big fan of emergency contraception.

ISAAC'S STORY

Isaac was born in 1927 in Boolodva, Poland. He was one of seven children, born to Nathan, a tailor. The family was sent to the Sobibor death camp during the Holocaust.

He and his brother were selected to work in the camp. He had to tie together bundles of victims’ clothes. The rest of the family perished.

Isaac reached the shores of Israel in April 1947. A year later he joined the army and fought in the War of Independence in the north, near Kibbutz Manara.

He worked as a plasterer and when he reached the age of retirement,  decided to continue working several hours a day to keep himself busy.

In 1994, on a Tuesday, Isaac was at work repairing the floor, his knees bent, when two Arab Muslims came in and struck his head with an axe.

And this is where Obama enters Isaac’s story.

THE ELEPHANT DOESN'T CARE WHERE ITS PEANUTS COME FROM

When television ads aired in South Carolina this spring attacking Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham for supporting immigration reform, a GOP group came to his aid. So did the other team.

“We came up with the money,” said Frank Sharry, founder and executive director of America’s Voice, a Washington-based group with close ties to the Obama White House. “We were just frustrated that nobody was doing anything, and Graham was under attack. We said, ‘Fine, we will put money in.’”

And Republicans for Immigration Reform had no problem taking cash, that was presumably earmarked, from a PAC close to Obama and funded by George Soros.

THE UNQUIET MAN

During an appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” Obama told host Jay Leno said he has “no patience for countries that try to treat gays and lesbians and transgendered persons in ways that intimidate them or are harmful to them.”

Of the seven countries that impose the death penalty for homosexuality, all are Muslim.

Apparently Obama has no patience for Russia, but he has plenty of patience for Muslim countries.

Next on the list is Kaiser Permanente, which is non-religious and which Obama described as a model for Obamacare. Its CEO, George Halvorson, has met with Obama and his top people and pushed Obamacare.

LEFTIEST JUDGE EVER GOES ON HELPING CRIMINALS

Judge Shira Scheindlin presided over three Gotti trials, two of which Gotti managed to nearly sail through. And here are other highlights of her career.

In September 2006 Scheindlin ruled that Judith Clark, a Weather Underground radical serving 75 years to life for the murder of a Brinks guard and two police officers during a robbery, was entitled to a new trial because her Sixth Amendment right to counsel was violated. Scheindlin found Clark’s right to counsel was violated even though the then-self-proclaimed revolutionary insisted on representing herself at trial, turned down legal counsel, boycotted much of the trial and refused to recognize the court’s authority.

So the big news that she declared the NYPD’s Stop and Frisk program illegal, a program that makes life safe for New Yorkers, especially in high-risk neighborhoods.

THE ARAB SPRING IS THE BEST THING EVER

The ugly truth is that Qatar and Turkey, our “allies” are on the same team as Sudan, a genocidal state run by a leader  under indictment for numerous war crimes.

And as the New York Times documented, Obama Inc. deliberately turned a blind eye to Qatari weapons-smuggling into Libya and Syria and perhaps even aided and abetted it

SPECIAL UNREAL TERRORISM

“The comparison does not make sense,” added Bjørn Ihler, who survived the Breivik massacre by hiding on the southern tip of the island. “Breivik was a solo terrorist whose actions were based purely on an unreal situation. The situation in the Middle East is very different. There is a real fight for Palestinian freedom going on.”

The distinction here is confusing. Is Bjorn really saying that it’s okay to kill someone in a real situation, but not an unreal one? So if Breivik’s views had been a little more grounded, would it have been okay for him to have tried to kill Bjorn?

THEIR GRATITUDE KNOWS NO LIMITS

The Afghan government is insisting that US forces pay $1000 for each shipping container leaving the country that lacks what it calls a valid customs form.

And authorities now claim the Americans owe $70 million in fines, even though the US contends that Kabul’s stance contradicts previous agreements, said US officials, confirming a report that first appeared in the Washington Post.

In some cases, Afghan officials were blocking commercial trucks from delivering food and fuel to US forces due to the customs dispute, the inspector general said.

THE EVIL EMPIRE IS BACK

One year after he waged a deadly shooting rampage at the Fort Hood Army base here in November 2009, Major Nidal Malik Hasan told a panel of military mental health experts that he wished he had been killed during the attack because it would have meant Allah had chosen him for martyrdom.

“I don’t think what I did was wrong because it was for the greater cause of helping my Muslim brothers,” he told the military panel.

He denied having remorse and justified his actions by saying that the soldiers he killed were “going against the Islamic Empire.”

Even liberals should be able to figure out that the imperial side is the evil one.

IF ONLY NIXON HAD HOLDER

Attorney General Eric Holder, who has never found a law preventing actual crime that he wouldn’t trash for a partisan racial agenda, is ordering prosecutors to dodge mandatory sentences for drug dealers by hiding the amount of the drug sale.

For example, in the case of a defendant accused of conspiring to sell five kilograms of cocaine — an amount that would set off a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence — the prosecutor would write that “the defendant conspired to distribute cocaine” without saying how much.

THE ROUNDUP

People with actual class, people who are actually among the real established upper class, don't slander shop girls. They don't need to. They know who and what they are and they are secure in their status. That's the virtue of old money, real money, real class: "We don't buy handbags. We have them."

...from American Digest

But that's the modern rags-to-riches story which is missing those vital elements. It's why Ashton Kutcher reciting a speech that would have been boilerplate in 1959 is greeted with shock. People are no longer used to celebrities talking that way.

Class was discarded long ago. It was driven over by rappers parading around in limos with console gaming systems in the back.

The whole point of being rich was to have no class. It was to become rich through as little work as possible, but through some innate talent for attracting people into investing in your story.

Oprah was the prototype of that world. She is immensely rich and famous because she is Oprah, the grandmother of all the reality stars who are famous because they're on television.

Claiming that she was discriminated against when buying a 38 grand handbag is the Oprah version of hard work. It's there to remind audiences that she's still struggling and can't just take it easy. There are still challenges that you face even when your only job is hanging out with other celebrities.

POWER AND IDENTITY

Here’s a thought: She [Hillary Clinton] can save the world…

Let’s begin with a working (and provable) premise: Women, if allowed to be fully equal to men, will bring peace to the planet. This is not so far-fetched a notion. One, men have been at it for thousands of years, resulting in millions and millions of corpses. Two, countries where women are most oppressed and abused are also the least stable.

Three, as women become more empowered, especially financially, countries become more stable…

That's a deep thought from Kathleen Parker (via neo-neocon)

The United States has never had a female leader. Pakistan did. Despite that there is no serious comparison between rights for women in the US and in Pakistan.

Or for that matter in the Elizabethan England of Queen Bess and the Ducking Stool and the modern evil American patriarchy.

Identity politics isn't human rights. It never was. Liberals have become corrupted into the left's habit of segmenting rights and tying that segmentation to identity politics.

The world that men and women made is the one with millions of corpses. It's the world that all people, black and white, green and yellow, made.

The ahistorical white privilege liberal finds it fashionable to pretend that history began somewhere around the time Columbus stopped by here. Or maybe the European colonization of Africa. That kind of thinking is arrogant idiocy.

History doesn't begin. History is. Technology changes, but the patterns don't. Human beings learn new skills, but they don't fundamentally change.

The kind of condescending head-patting that acts as if changing the gender or race of the human currently running things will change the way people act is the sheerest idiocy. Human beings are not all alike, but neither are they so different as that.

The world would have millions of corpses, whether it was run by men, women, neuters, people of any race, color or creed. The exact number might go up or down, but it would still be in the millions and millions, because human nature is basically similar enough.

And finally... consider Sweden for a moment, where the wages of the new leftist alliance may provide women with all sorts of economic benefits, but does nothing to prevent them from being raped by the mass of new immigrants.

This sort of story holds true beyond Sweden and even closer to home than most would like to think about.

Identity politics isn't really about identity. It's about politics.

THE INEVITABLE

The message is: Confusion and self-effacing introspection are the new norm. Fifty shades of banality are the new heights. When you glance down in appreciation at your prison shower room floppies, you have attained Karma.

Much is made of owning a pair of shower room floppies in the series, because to not wear them is to risk contracting a fungus. But the fungus so apparent in this series isn't physical. It is mental. It is philosophical...

The first season brandished a gamut of virtually every other "minority" or "oppressed" group imaginable in American society today, all Morks in their own eclectic ways: lesbians, butch and covert; a black transgender character and hairdresser and former fire fighter; Christians, tame, laid-back, zealous, maniacal, and even homicidal; Hispanics or Latinos of unknown nationality (maybe Mexican, maybe Colombian, who knows?); various shades of  jive- and street-talkin' blacks, from Obama tan to midnight blue; corrupt and conniving prison administrators, and corrupt and sex-cruising male guards, all white; butch female guards; indefinable whackos of various stripes; and followers, leaders, groupies, and non-aligned female felons of virtually every kind.

...from Edward's Rule of Reason

That seems to be the parade of the inevitable. The smothered yuppies drowning in their own self-obsessions, the purposeless narcissism of a meaningless life, must find it by breaking out of their circle.

Diversity is simply their way of achieving a phony self-realization. It's one reason Oprah has the status she does.

The white liberal needs his "magic negro", his wise man or woman from a minority group to tell him or her to stop being self-obsessed, guilty and neurotic and to enjoy life. The message never really takes hold, but he or she never stops searching for the "naturalness" and "reality" that these people, supposedly marginalized, outside the banal inner circles of their world, can offer them.

EXPIRATION DATE

Right after Morocco won its independence from France in 1956, my family joined the country’s ruling elite. My father, a close friend of King Mohammed V, had access to everybody in the government. It went on like that for two or three years. Then one day, out of the blue, Father told us we were leaving. We children asked why. “We’ve passed the yogurt’s expiration date,” he said. “We have no future in Morocco; as long as we’re free to go, we must go.” So we left, leaving behind most of our money and belongings. Ever since then, wherever I’ve lived, I’ve been on the lookout for the yogurt’s expiration date. In France, I think it’s close.

from the Gurfinkel Mosaic look at European Jewry.

And where were the Jews in this picture? Suddenly, they were welcome in Europe as Jews, to a degree unseen since the Emancipation in the late-18th and 19th century. From despised or barely tolerated outcasts, or more or less pitied victims, they became exemplary and even archetypal Europeans, if not the very embodiment of what the new Europe was supposed to be. Their persecution at the hands of the Nazis, a haunting episode that most Europeans would refuse even to discuss in the immediate postwar era, now served to epitomize what the new Europe was not, and whose recurrence it had been designed to prevent.

My own observation is that American Jews don't fully appreciate that European Jews are European in the same way that they are American. There is a deeper sense of ennui among many European Jews, the same sense of historical decline that has overtaken the continent, has overtaken them as well.

Europe and European Jewry did not really change all that much, before or after the war. Neither, despite claims like these, did the ordinary attitudes toward Jews or by Jews. There is no "New Anti-Semitism". Israel just became a safer way to be Anti-Semitic. Or a trendier way, perhaps.

The Holocaust became a tool for tearing down the European nation state in the hands of left-wing parties and governments that had as little use for actual Jews as they did before, and that had, in some cases, even willingly collaborated with the Nazis.

The New Europe was a toxic blend of the bad ideas of 19th Century Europe combined with unlimited immigration to give the leftist parties a secure voting base and somehow help pay for the generous socialist setups that were put into place.

There was never really any place for Jews in the new Republican Europe. The assumption was that they would blend into the population and vanish once the ghetto doors were opened. There was just as little room, in the long run, for Jews in the New Europe.

WELCOME BACK GAZA

as Meryl Yourish observes, these tactics are entirely familiar...

Sound familiar? It should. It’s the Palestinian/Lebanon playbook in a nutshell.

First: Using civilians as cover for building up weapons and munitions to be used in later attacks.

Second, get Western opinion behind you.

Third, use the cover of religion to churn up people for your cause.

All of these tactics have been used since the 1960s by the Palestinians, and in the last decade or two by Hizbullah. The Islamists note the ones that work and utilize them. Stupid Western leaders? Tell them over and over again it was a free and democratic election. Don’t worry about their noticing the power grab of suspending the constitution and replacing secular judges with religious ones. Anything that doesn’t fit their narrative will be discarded. Talk about discrimination while ignoring the attacks by the Brotherhood on Egypt’s Coptic Christian communities. The result? Well, you’re reading about it.

Only a minor point on the Oprah - Swiss saleslady controversy which I have seen mentioned anywhere in the media: The sales lady DID refuse to show the expensive bag not because she was racially biased in the traditional manner but because Europeans, with the minute percentage black inhabitants, knows nor recognizes wealthy blacks, unless when they would enter a shop dressed in leopard skin or Hollywood style "African royalty" attire Hence she thought it a waste of effort and a slight security risk to get the bag down and show it to the her unknown black woman.

Wow, I drew a sharp intake of breath on reading the last paragraph of your "What Terrorists Want" article in FPM. You weave together all the strands so effortlessly (at least it looks that way to the reader) and then tie it all up at the end so that it feels like a punch to the stomach as we "get it." This is why I read your work. Thank you for what you do.
