 THE IRAN WAR MYTH

In 2007, Israeli Air Force jets crossed into Syria and destroyed an Iranian-backed nuclear reactor. The operation had the backing of the United States and employed intelligence derived from an Iranian defector. There was no regional war afterward. Not even an exchange of fire at the Israeli-Syrian border.

In 1981, Israel struck deep inside Iraq, destroying Saddam’s Osirak reactor. The attack was universally condemned at the United Nations and even by Israel’s allies. Had Saddam used it as the basis for a war, Israel would have had no international support at all. But again no war followed.

Today, Iran and opponents of any attack on its nuclear program hold up the specter of a regional war that will drag in the United States, devastate the region and drive up oil prices. This is the only card in their deck until the mullahs have their own bomb, and it’s an effective card to play. But is any of that a serious risk?

     In Britain when it gets very cold the wind is always easterly and light. Any countryman knows this from childhood. Windmills are then useless. Can you tell them? Their ears and eyes are blinded by their dogma.

     The roads outside commuter hours and the cities are now emptying of traffic. Quieter than the 1960s. Fuel sales are falling fast. Tax revenues too as so much of our petrol price is tax. This means economic activity is less and less. The Western world has gone off it's head.

      Dutch farmers in the eastern provinces of the Netherlands are rubbing their hands on the prospect of pocketing the big fat subsidies they are getting for having the Greengangsters spoil the landscape with the big fat ugly and inefficient windmill parks that shall be placed on their land starting this year.     I filled my car yesterday with diesel at a pump price of £1.42 a litre... that's +- $8.53 for a US gallon (3.785) or $10.32 for the slightly large UK gallon (4.546 litres). The price of fuel is literally killing us here. There has to be a breaking point somewhere or the system is going to implode... How can it carry on like this?

    Household gas prices have just recently gone up 19% (yes, NINETEEN) pretty much across the board from all suppliers. The effect of green taxes is fudged somewhere in there.

    Poorer OAP's (Old age pensioners/ Senior citizens) have taken to buying old cheap books from charity stores to burn in their fireplaces in order to get a bit of extra heat. It's cheaper than buying coal or firing up the heating. A twisted version of Fahrenheit 451?

    It really is as bad as you make out. I'd advise any Americans reading this to cleanse your political system of the leftist-socialist-eco disease which is threatening to ruin your nation. Don't become like us. Cut the cancer out before it's allowed to grow any more. I don't know what hope we have anymore. The main parties are mirrors of each other and offer no hope for real root and branch reform.

    As a single earner household we have always been careful with our heating, the thermostat is kept to have a temperature of 18C. This year due to the rise in fuel prices (as you read 19%)the temperature has been 15C which has meant several layers of clothing when sitting down in the evening. The Government is raising petrol prices again by over 3p a litre in the summer by a device called the Fuel Price Escalator which was introduced as another green initiative. Green taxes have also made flying to visit children living outside Europe almost impossible (unless you are part of the 1%).

     The Green taxes on flying from the UK (as pointed out by London_Liz) are indeed becoming a genuine barrier to travel. I fly a lot to Israel and occasionally amass enough airmiles for a 'free flight' which used to be exactly that. But my most recent 'free flight' cost about £200 most of which was in green taxes. These green taxes go to fund the Government's obsession with climate change and the money that is not spent on political ideology is sent to fund crackpot schemes in countries like Pakistan, where no doubt it is partly funnelled into supporting Islamic terrorism. So at the end of the day my money invested in El Al flights actually gets to fund terrorists attempting to shoot down El Al planes.





A LONG TALE

The first time I met Arieh O’Sullivan was in the predawn darkness of a winter morning in Jerusalem in 1997, when he came to pick me up in a jeep emblazoned with the Confederate flag on its spare tire.

I was just starting out as a journalist and working as a cub reporter at The Jerusalem Post, and O’Sullivan, a veteran of The Associated Press, was the Post’s seasoned military correspondent. I thought O’Sullivan had one of the coolest jobs in the world, and it turned out that this diminutive Jew with an Irish name and a Southern accent was a pretty cool guy, too.

What happened to that jeep?

While you can take the boy out of Mississippi, you can't take Mississippi out of the boy. My jeep had a red and white Rebel Flag on the back spare tire and a plastic statue of General Robert E. Lee stuck on the dash, making it most likely the only Confederate shrine in the Middle East.

And somebody had had the chutzpah to steal my jeep from in front of my house. A decade ago, we had joined about 200 families and built a new village in the forested hills above the Elah Valley: nice modest villas surrounded by vineyards and olive groves in central Israel. Every now and then thieves would steal a car, but I never thought they'd set their sights on the old General.

Were they Palestinians? Bedouins? Jews? Or (good gracious) damn Yankees?!

"Forget about it," a police officer told me. General Lee was likely deep in the West Bank, a region to which Israelis have long stopped venturing. "Probably already in a chop shop."...

Two days passed and I got a midnight call from a friend, a former agent from the Israeli Antiquities Authority. The whole underworld is only two degrees removed from everyone. My buddy knew Arab ancient grave robbers, who knew car thieves, who knew car thieves, who were holding General Lee. They were Palestinians in the Hebron hills, and they were willing to sell it back. The catch was that I had to deliver the cash personally to an area fraught with danger for a Jew.

Now Arieh O'Sullivan has joined the Sons of Confederate Veterans

Arieh O’Sullivan left South Mississippi in 1981 to join the Israeli army. He has made a life as a journalist and olive farmer in that country, but holds tight to his Southern heritage in ways that sometimes perplex his friends, co-workers and even his mother. On Wednesday, he further tightened his connection to the region of his birth by taking the oath of the Sons of Confederate Veterans at Beauvoir.

O’Sullivan, who holds dual American and Israeli citizenship, is proud of the service given by his great-great-grandfather, Alabama Calvary Lt. George A Johnson. In the oath administered by Wallace Mason of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, O’Sullivan pledged to uphold the traditions of faith in God; honor; chivalry and respect for womanhood; a passionate belief in freedom for the individual; and a military tradition of valor, patriotism, devotion to duty and a spirit of self-sacrifice.

O’Sullivan said there is an unconscious nationalistic soul many Jews carry with them that is similar to the camaraderie shared by Confederate descendants.
“I feel it flowing through me,” he said. “If you have a sense of history that you carry with you, you are enriched by it.”

O’Sullivan is the son of former Ocean Springs Police Chief Efraim O’Sullivan.

A self-proclaimed “Jewish redneck,” O’Sullivan carried a Confederate flag with him into battle with his unit, the Fighting Farmers. He kept the flag, purchased at Gettysburg when he was 12, in the spare grenade pocket of his Israeli army uniform.

He named his jeep the General Lee and attached an image of the Confederate leader to the dashboard. The jeep has a battle flag for a spare tire cover. O’Sullivan said he gets bizarre looks from people sometimes because of his conspicuous affinity for the Confederacy.

“I try to educate them,” he said. “It’s about people who stood up for something they believed in.”

But there's an even more interesting rebel backstory to the O'Sullivan clan.

Toward the end of the Second World War, Thomas O'Sullivan of Bantry, County Cork, decided to join the British army. He was assigned to the Coldstream Guards which was the first unit to liberate the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. After the war he was transferred to the Sixth Airborne Division and was posted in Egypt along the Suez Canal. In 1947 his unit was moved to Palestine where his anti-British sentiments led him to befriend some members of the local Hagana Jewish underground. One night, fortified with a few belts of whiskey, O'Sullivan roared out of his base in Haifa with a "liberated" Cromwell tank. It was the Jewish state's first tank.

O'Sullivan stayed in Israel to fight in its war of independence and married a Jewish girl who had been raised in the Cayman Islands. Eventually they moved to Louisiana, U.S.A. where they raised a family together. Their son, Ephraim O'Sullivan, was a policeman in New Orleans when the Yom Kippur War broke out in 1973. He decided to enlist in the Israeli army and serve the fledgling Jewish nation. After the war he worked briefly as a policeman in Israel before deciding to return to the United States. Ephraim pursued a career in law enforcement and went on to become the police chief of Ocean Springs, the first Jewish chief in the history of Mississippi.

In 1981, Ephraim's son, Arieh (Hebrew for lion), dropped out of Louisiana State University to join the paratroopers in Israel. He fought bravely in Lebanon in the summer of 1982 after which he became a war correspondent for the Jerusalem Post. He covered conflicts in the Congo, Ethiopia, the Balkans, as well as the Middle East. He and his wife are presently raising their three O'Sullivan children in the Holy land.

The “too big to fail” label mandates the cover-up of a bad policy that has too many influential people, movements and countries tied into it to allow anyone to admit that the whole thing has gone pear-shaped.

The only way to deny the failure of the Arab Spring as a means for creating a better and freer region is by embracing its disastrous consequences. In other words, goodbye, Egyptian Twitter activists; hello, Muslim Brotherhood.

The triumph of Islamic parties in Egypt and Tunisia leaves Western “Springers” with only two choices: to either admit that the whole thing is a disaster and that the brakes need to be applied or learn to love the Brotherhood.

CHRIS CHRISTIE AUDITIONS FOR HOLDER'S JOB

Gov. Chris Christie tonight laid into the New York Police Department for spying on New Jersey Muslims, saying he doesn’t know if the actions were "born out of arrogance, or out of paranoia, or out of both."

At a briefing Thursday, the governor wouldn't weigh in on whether he thought civil rights were violated, saying that wasn't his job and that he would leave that to any agencies investigating the NYPD's intelligence operations.

"My view, politicians shouldn't be involved in that. Leave it to law enforcement," Christie said. "If there were any violations of law by the NYPD, I am sure the attorney general will take whatever steps he deems appropriate."

Isn't it great how Christie puts his faith in Holder to do the right thing.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told federal lawmakers this week that the Justice Department was reviewing requests to investigate the NYPD’s intelligence operations amid the scandal.

"We’re in the process of reviewing those letters to determine what action, if any, we should take," Holder told a House appropriations subcommittee.

So now Holder and Christie can hold hands with a few Imams and shut down what's left of our counter-terrorism capabilities.

Christie, who was U.S. attorney when the surveillance took place, reiterated that he and his top-level staff don’t recall being briefed on the operation. Neither New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg nor Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has apologized for the department’s actions, further incensing leaders on this side of the Hudson River.

"My concern, and I don’t know all the details yet, but my concern is, why can’t you be communicating with law enforcement here in New Jersey?" he asked. "Are we somehow not trustworthy?"

Well let's see. Does the name Mohammed Qatanani ring any bells?

Bloomberg is pretty awful, but he hasn't openly collaborated with a Hamas terrorist and appointed his lawyer to a superior court judgeship.

Why indeed would the NYPD think that Christie is untrustworthy?

Nonetheless, Christie's latest comments drew praise from at least one Muslim leader in New Jersey, Aref Assaf, head of the Paterson-based American Arab Forum.

"I'm so gratified. I'm honored to be a resident of the state of New Jersey under his leadership," Assaf said. "He doesn't mince words; he was unambiguous about the incursion of the NYPD into our state without proper protocols."

Muslim leaders have been invited to a meeting Saturday in Trenton with state and federal law enforcement officials to discuss New Jersey's response to the NYPD surveillance operations.

Yeah that would be why.

Christie conceded that as the top federal prosecutor in the state he didn’t always tip off municipalities on corruption busts, but it was not required.

"I had federal jurisdiction, so we could go anywhere," he said of his U.S. attorney job. "This is the New York Police Department. I know they think their jurisdiction is the world. Their jurisdiction is New York City. My concern is this kind of obsession that the NYPD seems to have that they’re the masters of the universe."

As Christie knows quite well, Muslim terrorists in New Jersey operate there to carry out attacks on New York. Christie's own behavior shows why the NYPD has more credibility on fighting terrorism than federal authorities do. And New York City is ground zero for terrorism, not just against New Yorkers, but residents of New Jersey, quite a few of whom also died on September 11.

This isn't just Christie being pissy because the NYPD gathered some intel in his backyard without checking all the forms in advance, it's pandering to his voting base, which includes some members of the Jihad First crew.

It's a sad state of affairs when Bloomberg is better on terrorism than Christie, but that's exactly where we're at.



RECYCLING THE PROPAGANDA

Moreover, Syrian Christians have until now been overwhelmingly supportive of the regime, fearing that if the regime collapses, then Islamist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood would rise to power and focus on marginalizing the Christians. The scenarios in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Iraq and Morocco have not been encouraging.

While the older generation among the Christians is more or less rallied behind the government, the younger generation is less ideological and more forward-looking. The Western-educated, Internet-savvy Christians refuse to buy the argument

This was the exact same propaganda recycled out of Egypt, with the "younger technologically savvy Copts" supposedly refusing to stand with Mubarak or worry about the Brotherhood.

...not that there's any reason to worry about that in Syria, right?

Given the rise of Islamic zeal throughout Syria, there is fear that the public would be outraged if Christians are allowed the right to run for president. Since violence erupted last March, the government has been trying hard to appease the religious clerics who have been very influential in the anti-Assad demonstrations. Many of the clerics, needless to say, are religious dictators. The regime has tried to win over the clerics by bending to their demands, like shutting down the Damascus casino or allowing the establishment of an Islamic TV channel -- Nour al-Sham -- that contradicts everything the secular Baathists had stood for since the mid-1960s.

So Christians don't have anything to worry about. See. Funny how the Islamists always come up on top of any side in the "Arab Spring".




BYE BYE ALL-AMERICAN MUSLIM

After all the furor and hype, Lowe's is still in business and All-American Muslim isn't. Bad ratings couldn't be salvaged by political correctness. While Homeland is now considered a breakout hit, its Muslim competitor has been cancelled.



 LINKS, TIES AND NAZIS

To recap Lew Fidler is running for the State Senate in Brooklyn and his position on gay marriage has gotten him in trouble with the Orthodox Jewish community. So naturally he took the easy road by accusing his Jewish Republican opponent of being a Neo-Nazi.

 Why was the basis for Fidler's claims that Storobin had Nazi ties? Because he wrote articles on a site that was linked to by white supremacist sites and reposted on them. But Fidler has an explanation.

 “I want to answer that, and my campaign folks would probably tell me that I shouldn’t,” he began. “I never, ever, ever did, or would have, called David Storobin a neo-Nazi.”

“I’m not so internet savvy … I used the word ‘ties’ instead of ‘links,’” he explained.  Adding that he “never once raised it in public,” while Mr. Storobin “continues to raise it in public.”

… “Again, he’s responding to comments that I made to a group of young Democrats at a bar, where I thought we were in a private room,” he added. “Look, if I was 25, I’m sure I would have used ‘links’ instead of ‘ties,’ I wish I was 25.”

So we're supposed to believe that Fidler is a buffoon who doesn't know the difference between links  and ties. That he misspoke because he's clueless about the internet. Except we also have to assume that Fidler's campaign staff is equally retarded since they issued a press release demanding that Storobin "release all writings, interview transcripts, and links to white supremacist and skinhead sites that have been wiped from the internet".

What do those links consist of thus far? There's an interview with the founder of the Minuteman Project, which is only racist if you're a member of La Raza, itself a racist group.

There's an interview with Freedom Front Plus, a South African party so incredibly racist that its leader was appointed as a Deputy Minister by Jacob Zuma. I'm being sarcastic here naturally, as Zuma is the president of the ANC.

Finally there appears to be a piece on Arab genetics. No authorship or context and no racism.

Fidler's lying staffers are claiming racism because of the sites that reposted the material and because they couldn't find anything more incriminating. This is pathetic even by Lib standards.

A glance at Global Politician seems to show a general interest site that covers international affairs and regularly conducts interview with political figures.

 Mr. Fidler, however, chastised Mr. Storobin over his handling of the interviews. “If I had had the poor judgment, or the poor taste, to interview a white separatist on two occasions and write about it,” he said, “by the time I was done, there would be no doubt that I considered his views repugnant, and I doubt that anything I wrote on the subject would be linked on a hate site.”

So Fidler is now blacker than Jacob Zuma. Perhaps Fidler should be putting out press releases denouncing the African National Congress for trafficking with the Freedom Party.

Mr. Fidler, who recently received three prominent endorsements, from former Mayor Edward I. Koch, Senator Charles E. Schumer and Gregory Davidzon, a Russian immigrant and political power broker.

Davidzon incidentally is a much more problematic figure than any of the people Storobin interviewed. If the media were doing its job, it would take a much closer look at him.



ACCOUNTABILITY

If we had resolute leadership in the White House, we would have explained that these Islamic terrorist enemy combatants detained at the Parwan facility used the Koran to write jihadist messages to pass to others.

In doing so, they violated their own cultural practice and defiled the Koran and turned the Koran into contraband.

The Islamic cultural practice and Parwan detention facility procedures support burning the “contraband.”

Instead here we go again,  offering apology after apology and promising to “hold those responsible accountable.” Responsible for what?

...so says Congressman Allen West, the man who should be in the White House.

If Obama gives in to Muslim pressure to prosecute American military personnel who were doing their jobs and following procedure, this will be one more mark of shame on this country for letting Hussein's reign of terror continue.




ANDREW SULLIVAN UNCOVERS JEWISH CONSPIRACY BEHIND PALIN'S PREGNANCY

Andrew Sullivan is pathological, that part isn't news. He's also a pathological bigot whose obsession with Israel is nearly as bizarre as his obsession with Sarah Palin.

The current theme is that Israel's growing refusal to allow a second Holocaust is really a plot to sabotage Obama's election. All the usual tropes are here. Accusations that Netanyahu's centrist coalition represents "the far right". That Obama has bent over backward to help Israel. And that Israel is horribly ungrateful for not putting Obama's election before its survival.

So Israel would, without warning, put US troops and Western civilians at direct risk of terrorist assaults

Israel would have been happy to give warning, if Panetta and Co. hadn't made it clear that they will leak anything they have.

And when Bush Sr. decided to wage war on behalf of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, that put Israel in the line of fire. The Arab Spring has encouraged a whole lot of terrorism in Egypt, some of it aimed at Israel.

and only set back Iranian nuclear development for a few years - and make it, or a Third World War based on religion, inevitable

It's wonderful how thoroughly Sullivan has absorbed the left's pro-terrorism meme which says that any attack on terrorists creates terrorists. So if Israel bombs Iran's nuclear program, the nuclear program will become inevitable, which it actually will if Israel doesn't bomb it.

And if Israel does bomb it, there will be a world war three based on religion. Which there already is anyway.

My own fear is that global recruitment for Jihad would boom as well - reversing all the gains of the last three years. 

Yes like the gains in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. Oddly Al Qaeda emerging in Libya and Syria doesn't seem to bother Sullivan much. But if Israel bombs some Shiite reactors, it will somehow cause a boom in Sunni Jihadist recruitment.

Reality and Andrew Sullivan just aren't on speaking terms.

The war would also galvanize Islamist parties in the new Arab democracies, giving Israel more ammunition in blocking any rapprochement between the US and the Muslim world.  

The Islamists have already taken Egypt and Tunisia and Turkey. They are capable of winning in any open election. But if Israel bombs Iran, then the same thing will happen that's already happening... but Israel will be to blame.

This is exactly how bigots think.

And following this essential blackmail, the Israeli government would doubtless rally much of the US Congress, the entire GOP, its media outlets (like Fox, and the Washington Post), and a key part of the Democratic fundraising machinery to side entirely with Israel against the US president. 

I don't follow the reasoning of crazy bigots well, but is Sullivan claiming that the GOP controls the Washington Post, or that the Jews control the Washington Post?

By key part of the fundraising machinery, he obviously means the Jews. But he bizarrely seems to be suggesting that either FOX is controlled by the Israeli government or that the Republicans control the Washington Post.

But the real question everyone is asking, is what role did Israel play in Sarah Palin's pregnancy?

Netanyahu's war would be designed to rile up not only his own neo-fascist base, but also encourage American evangelical voters to turn out against Obama, the "anti-Christ",

Apparently Jews not only control FOX and the Fundraising machine, but they're also neo-fascists in league with evangelical Christians to crucify Obama.

A global war which polarizes America and the world is exactly what Netanyahu wants. And it is exactly what the GOP needs to cut through Obama's foreign policy advantage in this election. Because it is only through war, crisis and polarization that extremists can mobilize the emotions that keep them in power. They need war to win.

Yet oddly Obama's war in Libya isn't a factor. Neither is the coming war with Syria, which Sullivan doesn't seem to be all that worried about. But if Israel bombs Iran's nuclear reactors, suddenly that will be a global war. Unlike when NATO bombs Libya.

Here's a prediction. Netanyahu, in league and concert with Romney, Santorum and Gingrich, will make his move to get rid of Obama soon. And he will be more lethal to this president than any of his domestic foes.

Wait, so now the Jews are in league with Romney, Santorum and Gingrich... all at the same time? The Jews really are amazing since they can get men who otherwise hate each other to collaborate. Much like FOX News and the Washington Post. And the decomposing remnants of Sullivan's brain.



SEVEN TO RULE THEM ALL

7 Charts that will turn an Obama voter into an Anyone But Obama voter. Granted that's assuming we're talking about a voter who cares about the economy and isn't either a permanent student or a permanent activist.


Land of the free and home of the permanent dependent

Public schools in San Antonio have installed video cameras, not to monitor for foul play or intruders, but to spy on kids’ eating habits. Federal food police in North Carolina have begun confiscating preschoolers’ homemade lunches because they didn’t meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines. Aghast parents have noted that one 4-year-old’s confiscated lunch of a turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips and apple juice sounds more nutritious than the state-provided chicken nuggets. But that entirely misses the point. In America, parents are free to give their kids pizza and pudding with Twinkies and Twizzlers, and the government has no right to intrude.

Now there are two factors at work here.

Factor 1. The supremacy of the state over the family.

Factor 2. School districts, like the rest of the crony-capitalist infrastructure, benefit from forcing their school lunches on kids. Their ideal student is neglected and has no one but them to see to him which allows them to make money on social programs.

Schools would rather function as social workers, than educate children, because they can't do the latter anyway and there isn't much money in it.

This situation is not limited to schools. You can see it all around you, especially if you live in a major city.


THE WRITING ON THE WALL

"Barack Obama wants politicians and bureaucrats to control America?s entire medical system. Go to hell Barack," the ad says.

Moran wrote a letter to Metro general manager Richard Sarles calling for the removal of the advertisement.

"The ad is deeply disrespectful of the President of the United States and does not belong in the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) network," he wrote.

Moran's idea of being respectful of a Republican president was to blame Bush for everything from Katrina to the Virginia Tech shooting. If a pigeon messed up his car, Moran would quickly blame Bush for it. Here at least Obama is being blamed for his own policies.



A BIG BELIEVER

THE FIRST

It was sometime in the fall of 1980. I had just returned from two years in Israel, where just a few months before I had a friend murdered in cold blood for the crime of singing Sabbath songs on the streets of Hebron on a Friday night. I started law school at NYU because that's the best school that accepted me. Until I got there, I knew nothing of NYU's politics, and that the hard Left in those days turned down Harvard and Yale for Washington Square.

Sometime during the first half of that semester we became hooked on the idea that Jimmy Carter would sell Israel down the creek if he were reelected. And so, we started walking around with Ronald Reagan buttons. In Hebrew.

It took a while until someone who actually read Hebrew told the Leftists what the buttons said. And the acrimony soon followed. It's been too many years - I don't remember what was said.
