Purim, Purim Oif Di Gantze Velt

"Figures of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and U.S. President George W. Bush are displayed during a Purim parade in the central Israeli town of Holon March 14, 2006. Purim is a celebration of the Jews' salvation from genocide"

(will there be a salvation from these two, I wonder though)

Purim under siege in Hevron where in the Purim of 1994 the Jews of Hevron were nearly wiped out by a planned Arab massacre.

Bibi Netanyahu gives Tzedakah sitting together with former Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Meir Lau. Will Netanyahu win as he did once before or will the rejoycing turn to shower and Yerushalatim which is to be divided under Kadima will weep as Sushan did.

Here Labor's socialist and anti-religious candidate Amir Peretz tries to figure out what a Megillah is and if it's edible.

We dress up in costumes, we celebrate, we dance, we hope for the future, we hope that our children's future will be more secure than ours or at least no worse than ours. For all that we do not and cannot know how our own Purim, the Purim of our generation will turn out.

It is said that in each generation they arise to exterminate us but Almighty G-d rescues us from their hands. Let us pray that our own Purim as in the first Purim, sadness will turn to joy, weeping to gladness when the evil decrees are overturned and we rise once again from the destruction to rebuild our land.

In 1994 I read about the planned attack on the Jews of Hebron, and how the good doctor thwarted it (either alone or with the help of others?) but was never accorded the true respect he deserved.

Do you have that writeup?

Or can you Please post again the story behind that story of Hebron 1994?
